My Kiva Profile:

I find this site very interesting! Lenders get to make such a difference in people’s live around the world and it is incredible how the internet could make an enormous difference in people’s lives because it allows them to have a voice! I think it is great how if money is raised by people all around the world supporting an entrepreneur Kiva will then provide the Partner in that community with the loan. That loan will then help start their business and gradually they will repay their loan. They then notify Kiva when the repayments have been collected and they gradually pay back their loan. I find this organization so inspiring! I couldn’t get my Pay pal to work so I will work on getting that up and running but the first step of making the profile is accomplished. When I do donate 25$ to this amazing cause I think that I will donate to either an education or health based loan because that would hold the most importance to me. I think it is amazing what sites like these on the internet can accomplish!

Social Media for Communication with Members

•March 29, 2010 • Leave a Comment

I attended a 6- hour Kappa Leadership seminar over the weekend and when we talked about social media being used within other chapters we decided to join the trend. As a daily twitter guru I was elected at the seminar from other member of chapter council the person to start it for our chapter at Rollins. I made one and am going to connect it to a Kappa Flickr account as well to give Alums, Current members, and the board something to goto to see what we are up to but to also communicate within the chapter and bring social media into the communication techniques we need to move forward with. I thought this would pertain to our class because of all the uses of social media being brought to different organizations every day. I think it is going to be an excellent use of it because of the apps on people iphones and blackberrys and the need we feel to constantly check the web and have ti at our fingertips.

I just tried to upload a video I made on Imovie onto Facebook and after it was done processing they sent me a notification saying: Hello,We have removed your video entitled “mother’s day video <3″ uploaded at 10:22pm February 19th, 2010. We did this because it appears to contain copyrighted material owned by a third party, such as a video clip or background audio. If you believe this material was removed by mistake, you may file a counter notice of alleged infringement by following the link below.
Please note that if you re-upload this video without filing a counter notice, or if you upload another video that infringes on the rights of a third party, we may remove the content. This could cause your access to the Facebook Video application, or your Facebook account itself, to be disabled.”

The reason I got this was because it was a slideshow and video of my and my mom for her birthday and I played a Taylor Swift song in the background ( and even though I gave her credit in the ending credits, they sent me that!) I’m scared that they are keeping an eye on my account now but I hope not because I don’t know what I would do if they disabled my facebook and caused me to lose my 2,000 friends and pictures! I felt this was appropriate to blog about because of the privacy policy and the innocent mistake of uploading a slideshow I made for my mom for her birthday to post on her wall!
